Hello Everyone,

I am working on SimplePeripheral example code on CC2650 launchpad and BLE SDK-2.2. When I am measuring current (in multimeter) current meter shows 100uA.

I have read in CC2640 datasheet If CC2640/50 is in standby mode it's consume 1uA.

So my question is, Is SimplePeripheral example goes in standby mode.? If so then why current meter shows 100uA. If not then any one help me how to put device in standby mode so I can achieve 1uA as per CC2640 datasheet.

Any one help me how to achieve lowest current rate (~1uA) in standby mode?

Yes, SimplePeripheral example goes in standby mode. How do you measure power consumption on LAUNCHXL-CC2650?

How to close ext. flash?

And I am not opening external flash by calling ExtFlash_open() then is it necessary to close it?

Hello YiKai,

I am measuring power by using current meter. I have removed 3v3 black jumper from launchpad and connect current meter probe, this way i am measuring current.

Is this right way? If you then please help me to achieve lowest current.

Try to remove all jumpers on LaunchPad.

I have removed all jumpers from launchpad but still same current rate.

Do you remove external flash? Can you take a picture to show me your setup to measure power consumption on LAUNCHXL-CC2650?

Hi Mahesh,

you don't have to solder it. You have to call ExtFlash_open(); and ExtFlash_close();. It's described in table 5: http://www.ti.com/lit/swra478

how to remove external flash?

I am notice one things when I set uint8_t initialAdvertEnable = FLASE; (disable ble advertising) and measure current rate it will show me ~8uA.

And when enable ble advertising current meter varies between 100uA to 180uA.

Below is snapshot of my setup to measure power:

Please let me know is this correct setup to measure power?

If you can see ~8 uA when disable advertising, it is correct. I believe if you desolder external Flash, it would go even lower.

Hi Mahesh,

It's hard to see exactly where your wires are connected, but there's an image of where you should connect them in www.ti.com/.../swra478c.pdf . There is also an explanation of how to close the external flash.
