CC2640R2F: Application size and OAD

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640

I have 3 questions about the new CC2640R2F which has the BT stack located in ROM.

1)  Can the application use all 128K of the available flash?

2)  Was the Over-the-air download, OAD, capability also moved to ROM, if not how much of the application flash does OAD require?

3)  When will a larger flash CC2640R2F be available?

Thanks,

John

  • Hi,

    Regarding your questions:

    1) Only parts of the stack is included in the ROM thus leaving about 80KB of application code. See here for ref:
    e2e.ti.com/.../404236

    2) OAD is still in flash, but significant application space is available for the on-chip OAD-enabled application since the stack is much smaller.

    3) Not for the CC2640R2F. Contact your TI sales rep for more info.
  • Zahid,

Thanks for the info but I still have some questions:

    1) I did read the link and it stated "With CC2640R2F, up to 80kB of additional free flash is available for Bluetooth 4.2 peripheral applications.".   I was confused by the word "additional".   My current CC2640 project, with stack in flash, uses about 65k for the stack and 50k for the app.   If only 80k is available for the app then 128-80 = 48k is still used for the stack?

    2) ok

    3) ok
