infrequent measurement in cc2650

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

hi, i'm doing a universitary project with the cc2650. I want to do a measurement every 10/15 minutes. How can i do? I use the app android downloadable from the site of the TI.

I read in the cc2650 sensortag user's guide that for infrequent measuremente it's advisable enable the sensor, read data and disable sensor at the end. To enable and disable sensors i have to modify the configuration UUID of every sensor that is reported on the guide, right? but in the code how i can do that? In the java code, sensortagGatt.java i have the declaration of the UUIDs, like:

UUID_IRT_CONF = fromString("f000aa02-0451-4000-b000-000000000000"),

i have to modify this? and in what part of the code i can do that?
i'd like to use this to develope a simple algorithm that automatically enable and disable sensors every 10 minutes for example.

Last thing, is all of this affective for the power saving?

  • Hello,

    You can use TI-RTOS clock module to schedule application processing. This will involve making changes to the embedded application. I suggest starting with SimpleLink Academy for TI-RTOS and Bluetooth fundamentals: www.ti.com/simplelinkacademy

    Best wishes
  • yes, that could be an option, but write the descriptor of the UUID how is written in the cc2650 sensortag guide is possible?

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC2650_SensorTag_User's_Guide

    how to do that?

  • ok, in order to try to turn off sensors, i found in the android code this function, disableService, that seems to do what i was looking for:
    public void disableService () {
    int error = mBTLeService.writeCharacteristic(this.configC, (byte)0x00);
    if (error != 0) {
    if (this.configC != null)
    printError("Sensor disable failed: ",this.configC,error);
    }
    this.isConfigured = false;
    }
    but i don't know well how to use it, i inserted it in the deviceActivity, in the first row of a function that writes the data in the phone memory:
    for (GenericBluetoothProfile p : mProfiles) {
    p.disableService();

    }
    and the application terminates when i try to connect the sensortag. Also using only the cycle for without instruction inside tha app doesn't work.
