CC2640: RF test needs on mass production

Hi, we use CC2640 in our product and starting to plan the production. I just want to get the TI statement about needed RF tests on each unit after production.

If PTM tests is enough  ? What is your statement and recommendations about the conducted tests?

    Hi Anna,

    Good question! TI tests each wireless MCU to ensure it meets the data sheet specifications. However, your manufacturing tests are to ensure that your device is assembled correctly. How would you detect if your CM placed a passive component in the antenna incorrectly or not at all? What if there is too much solder on the antenna pins such that they short? A statement from TI is not going to alleviate these potential defects in assembly.

    I would suggest using a subset of PTM to verify the RF is meeting your specification on the production line. It is assumed that you have completed design validation and the necessary regulatory and BT SIG testing (RF-PHY). We have app note SWRA468 which can be a guide to help you determine what test coverage is best for your product during mass production. Ultimately, you will need to collaborate with your manufacturer to determine the final test coverage needs for your product.

    The conducted test should confirm you have your passives placed correctly.

    I just need some clarification :)
    If we perform the wireless test and its success is it means that the conducted test is ok too? If we do a wirless test is the conducted still needed?
