CC2650: Maximum SPI clock speed - 12 MHz or 4 MHz?

Hello,

I found in an online forum that the maximum SPI clock speed with CC2650 as master is 12 MHz. The spec notes in one place that it is 4 MHz and I see no reference to 12 MHz. Could you please clarify?

You can find this in the datasheet SSI section.

When device operates as Slave the minimum needed system clks is 12 clks and the system clk is 48MHz, so 48/12 =4 MHz.

My application uses CC2650 as the master device. Can SPI be run at 12 MHz in that mode?

Yes, but please refer to the CC2640 datasheet as Christin mentions: 5.22 Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI)

Note that 12 MHz operation is only if you meet the test condition "One-way communication to SLAVE - Device operating as MASTER". If you use "Normal duplex operation - Device operating as MASTER" then you are limited to 48 MHz / 8 = 6 MHz.
