CCS/CC2650MODA: Problems with pairing/bonding multi_role Project with ZeroProject

Part Number: CC2650MODA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, BLE-STACK

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi, everyone
I use the CC2650MODA to make the project with two devices: I: Slave, II: Multirole (Muster+Slave) that must be connected to the telephone.
For this purpose I took the two examples from TI: ProjectZero and multi_role. With the Multirole I have programed the CC2650 LaunchPad and with the ProjectZero all the Modules CC2650MODA.

All the modules with ProjectZero could be communicated to the telephone and worked perfect. But with the Multirole were some problems:

1. The first Problem

When I connect Multirole to Project Zero at the first time it write to the terminal
------------------------------------
Connecting
Cxn 0 pairing started
Connected!
Cxn 0 pairing success
Cxn 0 bond save success
------------------------------------

When I try to connect the same device secondly Multirole gives the messages:
------------------------------------
Connecting
Connected!
Cxn 0 bonding success
------------------------------------

If I recompile the ZeroProject and reprogram the working device with it the connection fails. And the module cannot be communicated anymore until I clear the memory of the multi_role device and reprogram the device again.

2. The Second Problem
Some of the modules with The Zero Project didn't want to work with multi_role device at all while they could work whith the telephone perfectely.

About the First Problem:

I searched the information about bonding and found that after each bonding the multi_role saves the longtime key in its NV memory. After the recompilation I suppose thet the longtime key is changed and the multi_role device cannot recognize it.

Due to this reason I am asking the question.
1. How is it possible to netralize the saving the longtime keys by the multirole project to prevent unrecognition problems during the developement.
2. The multi_role project can save the data maximum for 10 devices. What hapens when I try to connect the eleventh device? Does it reject it due to the full bonding memory of it removes one of the previousely stored devices from the memory to store the eleventh device?

About the Second Problem:
3. What can be the reason that device cannot be connected to the multirole project while it can be connected to the telephone. If the problem is in the device why does it work with the telephone? And if the problem is with the multi_role why does the multirole work with the other modules with the same ZeroProject?

Best regards
Boris Fridman

  • Hello Boris,

What version of the BLE-Stack are you using?
For bonding behaviour, please see the GAP Bond Manager section in the SW Developer's Guide.

    Best wishes
  • Where is written the version of BLE-Stack? In which file(s) of the project? I couldn't find it.

I have found only the information about this BLE-Stack (of "ProjectZeroStack_CC2650LAUNCHXL") in ICall_startup.c file. This information is:

    Revised: $Date: 2014-02-13 12:53:30 -0800 (Thu, 13 Feb 2014) $
    Revision: $Revision: 37225 $

Can your give me the link to the SW Developer's Guide where the " GAP Bond Manager section" exists.

    Best regards
    Boris Fridman

  • Hello Boris,

You can find the developer's guide in the folder where your stack is installed, in that docs section.
