CC2564: Passkey Generation

Part Number: CC2564

Hi,

We are using Simple secure pairing in our design. The profile is SPP profile. For pairing we are generating a passkey and it will be displayed. The client has to type the passkey for pairing. The problem is, the passkey validity time is limited to some seconds. Is it possible to configure the stack to increase the passkey validity time. Also the current passkey is 6 digit. Is it possible to make it 8 digit?

Regards

Manoj

  • Manoj,

The Bluetooth Core specification for Secure Simple Pairing defines the passkey being 6-digit numerical value.

"For Secure Simple Pairing and Security Manager, the Bluetooth passkey is a 6-digit numerical value. It is represented as integer value in the range 0x00000000 – 0x000F423F (000000 to 999999)." Core spec v4.2 [Vol 3, Part C] section 3.2.3.3

So, no you cannot have an 8-digit passkey.

    Best regards,

    Vihang

  • Hi Vihang,

Thanks for the Immediate response. I have some more query regarding.

    1.  The passkey validity duration is limited.  Is there any setting by which we can increase/set the validity time of generated passkey?

    2. Is there any command by which we can know the Bluetooth version we are using ? (Bluetooth 4.0 / Bluetooth 4.2 ) . BTPS version is shown as 4.0.2.1.

    Regards,

This also is defined in the Bluetooth Core specifications. The response time requirement is not configurable.

Which version of the TI dual-mode Bluetooth stack are you using?

    Best regards,
