CC2650MODA: question of RED (ETSI/EN 300 328 v2.1.1) certification

According to data sheet, CC2650MODA has ETSI/CE (for Europe) certification of "EN 300 328 v1.9.1" for Bluetooth Low Energy.

There is an update request about ETSI/CE certification that requires RED (Radio Equipment Directive), "EN 300 328 v2.1.1" for Bluetooth Low Energy.

So,

* Does CC2650MODA has the RED certification also? Is it true that RED certification is required for Europe market?

* If CC2650MODA does not have RED certification, can you guide how to get the updated ETSI/CE, RED certification of "EN 300 328 v2.1.1"?

Hi Hayden,

The CC2650MODA module will be updated according to the new ETSI EN 300 328 requirements.

It is only really the Receiver Blocking which is new compared to the previous version. As you can see from this application note, the CC2650 has more than 20 dB margin to the requirements: www.ti.com/.../swra536

Hi Fredrik,

I have essentially the same question about CC2650 and RED. When you say the module will be updated, what does that precisely mean?
Will TI update the Declaration of Conformity or will the module itself be updated in a way?

Hi Nenad,

The DoC will be updated.

No updates to the design is required to pass the new EN 300 328 blocking requirements.

(I can search FCC documents, but can not find ETSI/CE document files.)

I was aware of that page but the deadline for the DoC is close.

"Manufacturers who were compliant with the existing legislation (RTTED or LVD/EMCD) will have until 13 June 2017 to comply with the new requirements."

What is the actual status?

I have to repeat the same question as Bernd. Regulatory compliance of the noted module is essential for us as it is considered a critical component of our product. The fact that he deadline has passed a no concrete answer was offered yet is unsettling.

If we as a manufacturer need to take further actions to assure compliance or make design changes, it is crucial that we are up to date with current status and planning regarding this topic. Ability to timely react decreases as each day passes, so I would appreciate some clarification here.

Hi Nenad,

We are in the process of updating the DoC, but the process is slightly delayed. I have requested more details about the status.

As is clear from this application note: www.ti.com/.../swra536 the CC2650 passes the new blocking requirement with a 20 dB margin. There are in other words no technical issue with passing the regulation.

Hi Frederik,

Yes I have read the application note, thanks. The fact that module is capable of passing the test is why we decided to keep the it in the design. However we need to know if there are further actions that need to be taken.

I am glad to hear that the DoC is being updated, as this will reduce our costs and effort. Currently, our plan is to start product certification at the end of the year, so I would appreciate if you could come back with status update on this topic.

Hi Frederik,

Were there are new developments in a meanwhile regarding ETSI/EN 300 328 v2.1.1 compliance and what is the status of DoC update for CC2650MODA?

I cannot stress enough how critical this matter is becoming as each day passes, and this forum seems to be the main channel I can get the needed information from. If TI is not able to complete the DoC in due time, and we need to act on it, this needs to be clear to us ASAP.
