CC2640R2F: Question about SSI and RTC

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Hi,

My customer is considering using CC2640R2.
So I got the following two questions.
I appreciate your comment.

1. They want to use SPI as a master, how many maximum frequencies can be set with SSI of M3?
And what is the maximum frequency when using SCE?

They want to communicate with sensor at 8MHz.
They are confused with the following description of the DataSheet and  TRM.
"The SSIs support both SPI master and slave up to 4 MHz."(DS)
"The bit rates are supported to 2 MHz and higher, with maximum bit rate is determined by peripheral devices."(TRM)
For SCE, I am thinking max 1.1MHz from the SPI setting menu of SCE.

2. Is there anything to reset the RTC except when restarting the power supply?
It is a recognition that RTC is used for RTOS.
The RTC value needs to be read using Clock_getTicks (),
but they want this value not to be reset as long as the power supply continues.

Sorry for bad explanation.
I am pleased if you can cooperate.

Best Regards,
Miyashiro

  • Hi Miyashiro san,

    1. Section 6.10, which you quote, is incorrect. I have asked our technical writer to update this. The correct numbers are found in the "Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI)" table. The SSI module supports up to 4 MHz as a slave, up to 6 MHz for duplex communication as a master and up to 12 MHz for one-way communication as a master.

For the SCE the maximum numbers are: 2 MHz TX only, 1.7 MHz RX only, 1.1 MHz RX+TX

    2. The RTC is only reset or stopped if power is removed, or if all clocks are disabled.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
  • Hi Fredrik,

Thank you for your quick reply!
    I understood well.

I am always helped by you, and very grateful to you.
