BLE Stack 4.2.2.

Android 6.0.1 Huawei G7plus.

I use the USB dongle to detect the problem device, it will show up with the broadcast name.

I do the same, using B-BLE app on Android but no device gets scanned.

This is the only one device that cannot be scanned by my phone.

We have produced many using cc2540, and now have to do an Android Scan before release.

I worry that many devices are shipped without testing with Android.

Did you try different app on android? ex : BLE scanner?

I have tried

1) Bluetooth LE Scanner

2) nRF Connect

3) B-BLE

4) BLE Scanner

All fail to see the device.

Can you try clearing the BT Share cache on your phone?

Cleared the Cache and Data from BT share. Still no difference.

Can you collect a bt snoop log on your phone? You can enable the log option in the Developer Options menu. Google the procedure if unsure.
Also, please provide the BDADDR of the device you are attempting to scan.

Also, can you elaborate on your scan settings in your app. Are you using CALLBACK_TYPE_ALL_MATCHES w/o any filter?

I have enabled HCI logging. This is the output for a good device.

I am not an app developer, and just using BLE apps from the playstore.

It cannot be detected at all. The BTaddress is 84:EB:18:77:15:AD.
Can you see anything wrong in the PSD files?

Hi Philip Man,

Do you try with the other phone? You can use lightblue on iPhone. It helps you know what your problem. You need to make sure BLE on your phone dont have any problem.

I have tried using iPhone with Lightblue. Same result.

Finds the good working unit, and bad unit is invisible.

You HCI log from May 3rd shows a different device BD address that what you list in your subsequent post: 84:EB:18:77:15:AD

Can you try setting a different address, say change a few of the addr bytes, as a secondary address or via the Set BDADDR Vendor Specific HCI command. Let's see if that fools the phone.

Tried a Xiaomi Mix (android 6.0.1) and that can detect the NG device.
Mine is Huawei G7plus (6.0.1), and also iPhone 5 with lightblue failed.

Is it BT hardware on the phones that are different?

I'm not sure if we discussed before, but did you confirm your SW running on a TI CC2540 dev kit and is detected by the problematic phones? I.e., set the same BDADDR and use the same ADV payload and timing.

Also, can you run a RF stability test using SmartRF Studio 7 on the specific units that are not being scanned? Marginal RF, usually due to 32 MHz xtal issues/layou, can result in BLE detection issues. Some phones are more tolerant than others to out of spec conditions so that can explain variability in functional testing, for example.

Tried to set the BDADDR using BTOOL. Says command disallowed.

You cannot change BDADDR if you are ADV or performing protocol stack operations.

I'm more interested in the RF measurements of your 32M xtal.
