CC2541: CC2541 reference design pin driven externally and configured as output?

Part Number: CC2541

Hello,

I looked at the schematic for the TI HeartRate reference design and noticed that pin 9, which is bit 0 of port 1, is driven by a voltage divider externally (~2.2V), and at the same time the C code configures it as an output.  Can anyone tell me why?  Seems like this could cause problems.

  • Hi Michael,

Good question. It looks like the designer intended to use this as a voltage divider for measuring the battery voltage with the CC2541 ADC. However, the pin cannot be used for that as only the P0 pins are analog capable.

Why it is ultimately configured as an output is another good question. If the output is low, it should be ok, due to the large resistor value.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
