CCS/CC2650: FIle missing in Debug

I built the Senor Tag CC2540 project as CC2650. I am running it on SmartRF board. I built the project and set a breakpoint with no problem the first time. I edited the file and rebuilt the project. Now, I get the following.

Can't find a source file at "/db/vtree/ademars/git_trees/avala-v/src/ti/sysbios/family/arm/m3/Hwi.c"
Locate the file or edit the source lookup path to include its location.

I do not know where the path above is pointing but the actual file is C:\ti\tirtos_cc13xx_cc26xx_2_20_01_08\products\bios_6_46_01_38\packages\ti\sysbios\family\arm\m3\hwi.c

Can you specify what file you edit and rebuild to see this trouble?

The file is hwi.c. I am getting an exception and this has a forever loop when it happens. I set a breakpoint to see where it is coming from. I edited the file to have a the forever loop so I can see where it returns since it it is coming from an exception. After that, i get the error.

Yes, it seems the file is missing after i edit it.

Do you install BLE Stack to default folder which is c:\ti?

Hi,

I am facing the same problem , File missing error while trying to run sample BLE Code(simple_peripheral_cc2650em_app and simple_peripheral_cc2650em_stack) in CC2650+Smart RF06 Evaluation Board.

Error: Can't find a source file at "/db/vtree/ademars/git_trees/avala-v/src/ti/sysbios/family/arm/m3/Hwi.c"

BLE Stack has been installed in C:\ti folder. CCS version is 7.2.0.00013
Ti RTOS version is 2.20.1.08

Please help me in solving the issue.

Yes, BLE Stack has been installed in C:\ti folder.

My CCS version is 7.2.0.00013 and Ti RTOS version is 2.20.1.08

Just try to build simple_peripheral example of BLE Stack v2.20.1.08 using CCS 7.2.0.00013 and it builds without problem. I suggest you to reinstall BLE Stack v.2.20.1.08 to test again.

It seems that you can build example successfully but have problem debug it. Am I correct? When and where do you see "Can't find a source file at "/db/vtree/ademars/git_trees/avala-v/src/ti/sysbios/family/arm/m3/Hwi.c""?

Yes, I am able to build the code successfully and while debugging the code, it got struck somewhere, I paused the code and saw the below message:

Can't find a source file at "/db/vtree/ademars/git_trees/avala-v/src/ti/sysbios/family/arm/m3/Hwi.c

I am not using any breakpoint to debug a particular part of the code. I just want to check how the code works and what it displays on LCD.As soon as I flash the code, it is supposed to display SimpleBlePeripheral along with its Address but it is not displaying anything on LCD. So, I paused the code and checked.

When you build example, do you use TI ARM compiler v5.2.6?

I had the same problem. I did two things. I clicked the move the files into the workspace and switched from Windows 10 to Windows 8. No idea why that worked. We switched projects so I am not working on that IDE anymore though.

Before you debug application, do you download Stack part into your HW first?

Yes, first I download Stack and then Application into my Hardware.

I am not setting any breakpoint. Nothing is getting displayed on LCD.

Presently I am working on Windows 10.
I followed the same steps in Windows 7 and flashed the Code , it is working as expected. But why it is not working in Windows 10?

Everything looks good to me. Run out of idea. I suggest you to remove both CCS and BLE Stack and reinstall to test again to see if that can make it work.

I did that for at least 4 times since a week. My final conclusion of all tests is BLE Stack doesn't work with Windows 10. I dont know the exact reason of this behaviour. Now I am able to work using Windows 7.

It's not a bug. This is how CCS handles code built as a library.

The Hwi module comes as a pre-built kernel library. You just happened to halt the target in the library code. As a result, CCS will try to open that source file (which you didn't build on your computer and which you shouldn't modify).
You can tell CCS to point to Hwi.c (e.g. C:\ti\tirtos_cc13xx_cc26xx_2_20_01_08\products\bios_6_46_01_38\packages\ti\sysbios\family\arm\m3\hwi.c), so you can step through it if you want to, but keep it mind, it's highly optimized, so it probably won't make much sense.

Did you have any other resolution to this issue other than using Windows 7? I believe I am having the same issue.

And just to confirm, you are only having to debug the _stack side of the application from Windows 7 and the _app still works in Windows 10? Or are you doing everything in Windows 7 now?

I used Windows 7 to do debug and the file was not missing. When I used Windows 10, the file was "missing" during debug. Just as an experiment, I deleted the entire project from the Win 10 box and uninstalled the TI development system. I cleaned up the drive and reinstalled the TI development system and did all the updates. The debug seemed to work but I still had small issues, so I abandoned the Win 10 and just moved on with the Win 7.

Sorry I can't help you. I stopped working on that project after I kept having problems with a development ide. We went with a different platform.
