CC2541: UART Software Control (Xon/Xoff) with the SC16IS752

Part Number: CC2541

Hi,

I'm currently setting up the SC16IS752 to interface with the CC2541. Instead of Hardware Flow Control (using the RTS and CTS lines), I want to just purely use the TX and RX lines. I also have HostTestRelease flashed onto my CC2541 but I am not sure what I should modify in this project to setup software flow control.

What do I change in the firmware code so that it can send and receive Xon/Xoff bytes so that it knows when it should start listening and interpreting the HCI opcodes that I am sending to the CC2541 Chip?

(I am using the TiWi uB1 chip which has the CC2541. I am not using the EM board either.)

Thanks,

Al

  • Hello Al,

The CC2541 USART does not support UART software flow control (Xon/Xoff). You can see more details in the USART chapter of the CC254x User Guide (SWRU191). Hardware flow control (RTS/CTS) is supported or two-wire w/o flow control is supported. If want to enable power savings, you must use MRDY/SRDY signaling IOs.

    Best wishes
