BOOST-CC2564MODA: memory issue wih HFPDemo example using MSP-EXP430F5529LP board

Hi,

I'm not able to build the example HFPDemo found in Bluetopia SDK for MSP430 with MSP-EXP430F5529LP board as HW target. The library to be linked specify "small data memory model" forcing the building of the all project to use the small data memory model as well, which with MSP-EXP430F5529LP as target ends with an "error #10099-D: program will not fit into available memory".

I'm doing something wrong building or the example doesn't fit for MSP-EXP430F5529LP board (it would be very weird)?

I tryed both EABI and COFFABI library formats found in the Bluetopia->lib->CCS->DefaultMTU folder.

The MSP-EXP430F5529LP + BOOST-CC2564MODA is not a suitable hardware setup for HFPDemo since the MSP430F5529 does not have enough flash to fit the entire demo.

The MSP-EXP432P401R + BOOST-CC2564MODA + CC3200AUDBOOST is the correct hardware setup to evaluate the use case. For details, please refer to the SWRU453 and the CC256XMS432BTBLESW SDK for details.

Where I can find examples for the MSP-EXP430F5529LP + BOOST-CC2564MODA + CC3200AUDBOOST hardware setup?

I'm a problem also with the MSP-EXP432P401R + BOOST-CC2564MODA + CC3200AUDBOOST setup, which I described in the "BOOST-CC2564MODA: trouble communicating through EUSCI with MSP432" post, can you help me with that too?

Unfortunately, there is no example for this HW setup since the MSP430F5529 does not have enough flash to fit all the code.

Sure, I can help you debug that.

The thread "BOOST-CC2564MODA: trouble commuinicating through EUSCI with MSP432" mentions that you are trying to work directly with L2CAP layer. Before you do that, do you have the sample applications like HFPDemo_HF working out of box on this hardware setup?

Yes the application HFPDemo_HF and HFPDemo_AG work very good on this hardware set up.

I figured out the UART problem: I overwrote the Display function with fprint... probably it is too much demanding to be compatible with the UART communication (the RX UART interrupt some time is not triggered when a byte is received, then the overun error is triggered).

Hi Vihang,

just to be sure. I've found at this link www.ti.com/.../tibluetoothstack-sdk
that the MSP-EXP430F5529 is suggested as experimental board for CC2564MODNEM (asaif it embeds CC2564MODN that is like CC2564MODA without antenna)... is this a mistake?

Angelo,

It is not a mistake. If you refer to the User's guide for that SDK, you will find that the MSP430F5529 has just enough flash to support 1 use-case. The SPPLEDemo_Lite.
For the use-case you are trying to evaluate, it does not have enough flash. An MCU with larger flash (like the MSP432P401R) is more suitable.

Hi Vihang,

I tried to build the SPPLEDemo_Lite for MSP430F5529, but I still got the memory error... can you tell me the right configuration of this sample in order to be built for the MSP430F5529? (in the configuration I found the options only for MSP430F5438 and MSP430BT5190).
