CC2640R2F: Keil uVision not supported?

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640,

Hi,

We standardised over the last few years on Keil uVision (Microvision) as our standard tool for developing software, as it supports all ARM Cortex devices.

Now it turns out that there is an exception - the CC2640 family!

Why is this not supported?

We are well into a development project and have selected the CC2640R2F from over a dozen Bluetooth SoC devices with an ARM core, and to now find that it isn't supported by ARM's own development tool is frustrating.

When are TI going to work with ARM/Keil to provide support please?

Kind regards

Richard

  • Hello Richard,

Thank you for the feedback. In addition to IAR EWARM, we also support Code Composer Studio v7 for our CC2640R2F wireless MCU which is now free to use without any size restrictions. In terms of Keil uVision, our SDK does not provide sample applications for this IDE but I have seen posts where users have converted IAR projects to this IDE. I'm not sure if there are any recent conversions for CC26xx BLE devices, but there should be no dependency with the prebuilt libraries included in the SDK.

    Best wishes
  • Hello JXS,

Many thanks for coming back to me.  I realise that there is the CCS option too, but the route of our problem is that we are all familiar with uVision and have a number of build servers, revision control and automation tools geared around this, which aren't directly supported with CCS.  I appreciate that we can manually convert programs to uVision but we were hoping not to have to reverse engineer the IAR examples to make this work.

Hopefully TI will decide to add support for uVision in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Richard
