CC2640: Sensor Controller - Main Cortex M3 not entering low power mode(s)

TI Friends and Family,

One of our friends is seeing higher current consumption than expected, when running the Sensor Controller on the CC2640. They believe the main Cortex M3 is not entering a lower power mode when the Sensor Controller is doing its thing.

A huge architectural benefit of the CC2640 is the fact that the Sensor Controller can operate independent of the main M3, for substantial power savings. We believe there is probably a software setting that is not being enabled that prevents the M3 for entering low power mode when not in use. Is this something that the user would manually need to configure or could there be something else going on here?

What is the current consumption? And what makes them think the Cortex is not in low power mode?

I believe like 30-35mA, not expected nanaAmps (for Sensor Controller). Are there specific steps required to make sure the M3 is NOT just running full-on Active mode when the Sensor Controller is in use? They want to run low power mode, and then transfer data from the Sensor Controller RAM via DMA/interrrupt when needed. So the M3 would sit in low power mode until needed.

They do want to trigger a Timer on the M3 as well, but that should also be part of the low power mode.

Are they any "gotchas" that users need to pay particular attention to when running this?

30 - 35 mA? That is a lot. There must be something else drawing current in their system.

Anyway, TI-RTOS will ensure the devices goes properly Standby when it can. This is true also when the Sensor Controller is running.
