CC2540T - Switched from CR to BR battery, no longer functions.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540T

We are having an issue with a device using the CC2540T. We originally had it working with a CR1225 battery. We decided to switch to a BR1225 and now the device does not work.

We believe that the reason is the lower continuous drain of the BR battery.

The CR is .1mA and the BR is .03mA

Are there any suggestions on how to fix this issue easily and without a major re-work? Or any suggestions in general really.

Thanks in advance for anything you can provide.

  • Hi David,

Can you elaborate on what specifically you are observing when the device does not work? Are you able to supply the required current to the device?

    Best wishes
  • Hi David,

I do not have any experience with BR batteries, but it sounds like you may be pulling the voltage below the BOD limit when the current consumption goes above a certain threshold.

As Jeff says, it would be helpful with some more insight into what "device does not work" means. Maybe you can fix this by adding more bulk capacitance to VDD, maybe it is just not possible to run off a BR1225.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
