Hello,

I am trying to establish a link between two cc2640 modules on a custom board. I am using cc2650 launchpad to load program onto the modules. should I run simple_central on one device and simple_peripheral on the other to establish a communication?

Are the programs loaded into the modules start automatically on the power up?

Is there anyway to establish connection with a specific device?

Hi Saandeep,

Since you are bringing up a custom board, I would recommend that you follow the Initial Board Bringup to verify your device is functioning correctly:
software-dl.ti.com/.../custom-hardware.html

Beyond that I suggest reviewing the BLE Connections SimpleLink Academy lab:
dev.ti.com/.../

I suggest you to use spp_ble_client and spp_ble_server at github.com/.../cc2650lp

Thank you! I will start workingwith my customer boards once I get this working I guess. I used spp_ble_client and spp_ble_server and got the two launchpads connected. I assume that by changing the BD_ADDR in the code I can connect to any device I specify. Is that correct? Also how can I continuosly transmit data?

As I remember, you don't have to change BD_ADDR and spp_ble_client and spp_ble_server can work together smoothly. If you keep inputting messages from UART, it would transmit messages continuously.

Oh ok. But I will be using this when there are multiple devices> SO I think I should specify the addresses right?

If you want to pair with specific device, you should specify the address.

Thanks! I was trying to read RSSI after getting connected, but I couldn't.
I see that in the client there is a function named SPPBLEClient_readRssiHandler() which calls SPPBLEClient_enqueueMsg which puts the event SBC_RSSI_READ_EVT in the queue which leads to HCI reading of RSSI. However, I am confused where should I place this call to the function SPPBLEClient_readRssiHandler()? Irrespective of where I call it I don't seem to get RSSI. Can you please let me know a proper way to get RSSI
