RTOS/LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2: Long Range Connection Establishment

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hello Everyone:

maybe you already see the examples in the github to start with the Long Range examples!

The problem is: at the moment, if i understand right, the central and peripheral establish the conntection in normal BLE and change the PHY after that to long range.

My Question is: is it possible to use the current SW to establish the connection directly with long range PHY?

Thanks for your support.

Best Regards

Roman

  • As I know, it's not possible to use current SW to do so.
  • Hello XK Chen,

first: thanks for you fast answer!

But it is not really a solution for our application. I found some command:
    - HCI_LE_SetDefaultPhyCmd-> set before connection but dont changed the PHY
    - HCI_LE_SetPhyCmd-> set during a connection

What we need is to start a connection with long range, so we need to start our advertising with "coded s8" and the scanning.

Is it possible to use "connection establishment with coded s8" in the next SW Version?
Is it possible to get a timeline when the next SW version is published?

i found some commands structs in the rf_ble_cmd.h
    - rfc_CMD_BLE5_INITIATOR_s
    - rfc_CMD_BLE5_SCANNER_s
    - rfc_CMD_BLE5_ADV_AUX_s
all of them can use some "coding" but i dont know where to change something for use this "structs"? Maybe some beta sw is available?

    Thanks for your support!

    Best Regards
    Roman
  • Hi Roman,

Long range mode is currently only provided for demonstration and evaluation. As such, the full capabilities such as ability to advertise and connect using coded PHY is not included yet.

Please stay tuned for the next BLE5 release which will include full capabilities for LRM.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
