Hi Champs,

I have a customer who has the following problem:

They are using the SMARTRF06EBK with the CC2650EM-7ID and want to use IAR Embedded Workbench (Ver. 8.11.2.13606) for software development.

After downloading and installing the “CC2640 and CC2650 SimpleLink™ Bluetooth ® low energy Software Stack 2.2.1” they went through the developer’s guide but got stuck.

According to the description in the guide, chapter 2.6.2.1, IAR needs to be configured to be able to use its full functionality. The problem appears at bullet Nr. 7. Where the available workspaces should be shown they only see an empty window, see below:

Can you please comment what could be the problem here?

Hello Simon,

The specified version of IAR for this SDK is EWARM 7.70.2. It can be obtained via this link, which is also in the release notes:
www.iar.com/.../

There are changes in newer IAR versions, including 8.11.x that will make it incompatible with BLE-Stack v2.2.1.

Hi,

thank you Simon for starting the thread for me.

@JXS:
This didn't resolve the problem. I downloaded & installed the version 7.70.2 , which is listed below the table on the IAR-website you recommended. (netstorage.iar.com/.../EWARM-CD-7702-11710.exe)

I restarted the computer, uninstalled all the other IAR-IDE's and reinstalled the emupack file. Unfortunately this didn't help as well.

I successfully built the example as recommended in the Developer's Guide from the "$BLE_INSTALL$\examples\cc2650em\simple_peripheral\iar\simple_peripheral.eww" directory.

Can i conclude, that step 7 describing these "Custom Argument Variables" isn't necessary for sw-development?

The custom argument variables should match what is shown in the SW Developer's Guide (SWRU393) in Figure 2-6. Custom Argument Variables

If you open a project in a newer IAR version, then attempt to open it with an older version, it may cause some compatibility issue requiring you to restore or re-install the SDK.

Thank you guys for your suggestions. I wasn't able to fix this.
However, i'm now working with a CC2640R2F-MCU , which is also used in the final application. For development i'm using IAR Embedded Workbench 8.11.2 and SIMPLELINK-CC2640R2-SDK.
