CC2640: AUX RAM as additional RAM - Power Consumption

Part Number: CC2640

Hi,

I would like to use the AUX RAM as a RAM extension as described in the Memory Mng. section in the UG. I am not using the SCE.

My Question is

What hit does this have on power consumption as mentioned in the guide.

Is it only the extra time it takes to access and retrieve the stored data, i.e. less sleep time for the CPU, or

is there some extra high consumption from the SCE or other component?.

Thanks

Tamir

  • Hello Tamir,

The additional current consumption in your application will be determined by how you access the AUX_RAM due to the slower access times to this memory region. You will need to profile your application using the methods in app note SWRA478 to get a definitive value. There is no additional standby current consumption since the AUX_RAM is retained during standby by default.

If you are not using the SCE, there will not be any additional current consumption from the SCE.

    Best wishes
