CC2640R2F: Trying to connect to Simplelink BLE KIT thru BTool/PuttY/TeraTerm: Failed to open the COM port

Part Number: CC2640R2F

While connected to the CC2640R2F (SimpleLink Launch Pad Kit) and running Project Zero, I tried to connect using serial port (through Tera Term / PuttY / BTool).

XDS110 Class Application / User UART (COM 5)

Every time I get the "Failed to connect to COM5" error. Any thoughts?

Hi Alireza,

It may be that another application or process is accessing the XDS110 device. I would recommend closing any other instances of IAR, CCS , flash programmer, or BTool that may be accessing the port.

If that is unsuccessful, I would recommend changing to a different physical port on your PC or checking the USB cable for issues. Last test would be a re-start of the PC.

Hi Sean,

I have been running CCS since in the project zero I was asked to do so. Anyhow, I closed the CCS and apparently got connected to the board. However, a few seconds afterwards I received the following

error. Any thoughts how to fix this one?

I have the same problem! I don't have PuTTY. Is that an isue?

Any serial terminal emulator should do just fine.

By the way, above there is a screenshot of Project Zero encounting a timeout when serially connecting to BTool. This is not a supported use case. Only host_test should be used with BTool.
