Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm my question.

[Question]
According to the User's guide and wiki, the SensorTag battery is not necessary if the sensortag revsion 1.3 or later. Is this description correct?

TI wiki: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../LED_Audio_DevPack_User_Guide
User's guide: www.ti.com/.../tidua61.pdf
****************
For SensorTag hardware earlier than revision 1.2, the battery must be inserted while powering the LED Audio DevPack from the USB power supply. For SensorTag hardware revision 1.3 and later, the SensorTag does not require that the battery is inserted.
***************
In my understanding, if there is not the battery on Sensortag, the Analog switch(TPS22910AYZV) on SensorTag will may have a damage because this device will input the voltage for pin by LED Audio DevPack even though the Vcc of this device does not supply.

Best regards.
Kaka

  • Hi Kaka,

    Your understanding is correct.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Fredrik,
Thank you for your confirmation. So,the description of TI wiki and user's guide is not correct. Right? If yes, would you please revise it correctly?
    Best regards.

  • Hi Fredrik,

We noticed that the switch device(TPS22910AYZV) has the Full-Time Reverse Current Protection.
So, it seems that it is not problem for the latest SensorTag even though the Sensortag does not insert the battery when powered from external DEVPACK.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Kaka,

The description on the wiki and the user guide is correct. I am not sure where the confusion is.

  • Hi Fredrik,

I am confusing on your answer of "Your understanding is correct".
    My understanding is as below.
    ******
In my understanding, if there is not the battery on Sensortag, the Analog switch(TPS22910AYZV) on SensorTag will may have a damage because this device will input the voltage for pin by LED Audio DevPack even though the Vcc of this device does not supply.

So, I thought that we must insert the battery to SensorTag when use the DEVPACKs.

    Best regards.
