CC2640R2F: interfacing with Bar code Scanner

Hi all,

I would like to use Bluetooth low energy to send data from bar code reader to the PC. Is there any reference design or example to interface bar code reader with launchpad like cc2640 or any other?

Hi Zulfath,

There are no specific examples for bar code readers. If this however uses a standard serial interface like SPI or UART you can refer to the TI-Drivers examples.

Since I'm quite newbie, having some doubts to clarify. I hope TRF7964A /TRF7970 can interface with Bar code scanner USB 2.0 with MSP430FR2632/MSP430F5529 micro controller in real time. MSB430F5529 is better for Bluetooth communication but requires additional components.

Is that TRF79XX can interface with cc2640 for developing a hardware prototype in order to make a good IOT application related?

Is DRV8833 is also required for bar code scanner to power up?

It should be no problem to connect TRF79xx to CC2640 but you have to write driver by yourself.

Thanks Yikai Chen,
Do we need separate power for this module or it power up through TRF79XX? I mean for cc2640--->TRF79XX----->Barcode Scanner . I saw instead of TRFXX we can also use DRV8833. But TRFXX is reader and tranceiver. DRV8833 is a driver (Single Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver (PWM Ctrl)). It's still confusing.

I couldn't understand your question about TRF79xx and DRV8833. TRF79xx are NFC reader/writer IC and DRV8833 is stepper motor driver, what's the relation between them?

Do we need a driver IC DRV8833 for this connection (CC2640---->TRF7970---->Bar code Scanner) to complete?
I found this under suggestion "product to complete your design" of TRF7970

PMP9300 is power supply circuit for Bar code scanner. Either DRV8833 or PMP9300 is enough.
