is it possible to use BLE frequency hopping in SmartRF Studio 7?
My customer would like to include this for their range tests.

Hello,

No, you need to use the BLE-Stack running natively on the MCU for BLE FH. SmartRF Studio 7 is for testing radio parametrics , not LE Link Layer protocol testing.

Hello,

I have a follow-up question:
Is there a CCS example for frequency hopping?
Ideally for TX and RX with serial output of the RSSI value.
Again, it's meant for range tests.

The BLE simple peripheral/central sample apps implement LE frequency hopping. Additionally, the BLE5 long range demo shows RSSI on the UART display.

Do I need to change anything in those examples to do range tests?
Can I just flash the peripheral/central sample to the TX board and the BLE5 long range demo to the RX board and get going?

That's correct. You can find the demo on our GitHub page via the BLE Wiki. The menu system will control the connection.

Additional question:
Basically I could use the BLE5 examples "longrange_central" and "longrange_peripheral", right?
One for TX and one for RX.

That is correct. The menu system will be output on either the UART or on the LCD BoosterPack if attached. You can see the UART menu at the end of this video: training.ti.com/getting-started-bluetooth-5-simplelink-cc2640r2-launchpad-development-kit
