CC2564MODA: Can A2DP run simultaneously with BLE GATT profile

Part Number: CC2564MODA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3203, TLV320AIC3254

Hello team,

Hope you are well. Please see below customer question:

  1. Can the A2DP using Assisted HFP Mode be run simultaneously with the BLE GATT profile
  2. My GATT profile needs would be ~200 GATT Packets per second.

  • One more question i have about the CC2564MODA is if the TLV320DAC3203  DAC chip would work for the A2DP profile and the HFP profile or if another TI chip would be better for Stereo output and Mic input for the HFP side.

  • Assisted modes can not be run simultaneously with BLE.
  • what method would allow the usage of Audio and any form of data transfer? I do not necessarily need BLE but I need audio and Data Transfer simultaneously.

  • So non Assisted modes can be run simultaneously with BLE?
  • Tim,

Non assisted modes can be run simultaneously with BLE. Which microcontroller are you using?

    Tim,

The TLV320DAC3203 (as the name suggests) is a DAC device. So it is for unidirectional audio/voice. It might be good enough for a unidirectional A2DP SNK type of application, but not for A2DP SRC or HFP (bidirectional) application. There are other CODEC ICs like the TLV320AIC3254 that are more suitable for unidirectional (A2DP SNK or SRC) or bidirectional (HFP). Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

  • I am working on a solution, I was interested in an MCU that had 2x24bit DACs however, with what I am finding out about the stack implementations I think I am possibly targeting an MCU that has too small of flash memory.

I have no specific MCU in mind at the moment except for potentially the MSP430672x. But that was chosen solely on the DACs.

My system requirements are as follows:

    1. Simultaneous A2DP or HFP Audio with data transfer (non-SPP for apple compatibility) Data transfer requirements are ~ 9600 bps. What is the overhead of the data transfer for non-assisted HFP?
    2. I2S to a DAC for Audio output and mic input, the system can use a digital mic so I believe the TLV320DAC3203 works fine here for the HFP mic solution.
    3. I2C for an accelerometer and DAC control
    4. 2 channels of simultaneous sampling 24b A2D, this can be onboard or offboard via SPI.
    5. I2C/SMB to a single cell LiPoly gas gauge and charger.
    6. Sufficient Flash space to support OTA upgrades (can be achieved via off chip Flash if needed).

Any portion of this system that you can help identify for me would be great, I am trying to get to a functional prototype by mid January.

  • Tim,

More information on compatible processors can be found in the Selection Guide.

Depending on application size and complexity, I would lean towards suggesting the MSP432 family over MSP430, users have run into past issues where MSP430 does not have enough flash for their applications.
