Hello everyone

I have successfully programmed the HostTest.hex file to the IC. I am know trying to connect it to my Laptop with Bluetooth but my laptop wont connect to it. I see a ble device that has as name Unknown and i am almost 100% sure this is my cc2540. But when i click pair it says: "try again and make sure your device is still discover able". I have done a verify against the HostTest hex file and gives OK. So firmware must be correct. The cc2540 is now still connected to the cc debugger for power.

The CC2540 is on a small circuit board and it worked before in bleutooth peripheral mode.

Laptop = windows 10

Which HostTest hex file do you download to your custom CC2540 board? Are you sure you use correct UART pins?

Thanks for the replay.

I am using the C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.2.2\Accessories\HexFiles\CC2540_SmartRF_HostTestRelease_All.hex file.

What do you mean with the right UART pins? You mean the pins i am using to connect the cc debugger to my costum board?

No, you have to connect UART pins of CC2540 to a serial-to-USB converter so it can connect to PC which runs BTool to work with your CC2540 running HostTest.

But it is also possible to connect the cc2540 with a com port to the computer using a Bluetooth connection. How do i achieve this?

What do you mean “connect the cc2540 with a com port to the computer using a Bluetooth connection”? COM port is serial interface and I don’t think it has BLE capability by default.

Hey

I am trying to connect my pc to my cc2540 over bleutooth. So that i can write a C# program that can give HCI commands to the CC2540 over a Bluetooth connection. Just like the hart rate monitor example of TI.

You run HostTest on CC2540 so you need to use a serial-to-USB converter to connect CC2540UART pins and PC so you can send HCI command to CC2540 through serial interface.

CC2540_SmartRF_HostTestRelease_All.hex is OK.

Really appreciate the help so far. Sorry for my many questions i am just getting started with Ti ble.

If the hex file on my cc2540 is correct why cant i connect to it over bleutooth?

To communicate between two BLE nodes, one has to run as BLE central and another shall run BLE peripheral. In your case, I suppose you run HostTest on CC2540 and connect it with PC using serial-to-USB cable to act as BLE central. Then, you can use it to connect with any BLE peripheral.
