CC2640R2F: how to write secondary MAC ID in host test example code and handling flash lock

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Hello,

We want to use the cc2640r2f as a network controller and will be using the host test example. however, in our production architecture, we plan to program the host test example code and do the RF and functional testing while we will be making modules.

Once those modules passes all the required tests, we will integrate it to a end product which will interface with the module over UART. We plan to add secondary MAC ID after integration of module into product over UART.

Please suggest if that is possible, if so please share the mechanism to do that. Also, after programming the MAC, if we want to lock that region of flash for protection, what is the best way to do that.

regards

Prateek

  • Hi Prateek,

You can use LM Flash Programmer Command Line Interface to program secondary MAC Address.

  • Hello Markel,
We plan to program the secondary MAC using end application controller with which the module will interface with and it will be very difficult to communicate the module with programmer.
We plan to use the cc2640r2f as a network controller using host test example of BLE 5 on SDK1.00.58.71.
We want to program the MAC ID using some HCI command and then want to write protect the MAC ID flash section using some HCI command.

Please suggest the suitable mechanism to do that.

  • Hello Prateek,

There are no VS HCI commands for configuring the secondary IEEE BDADDR to the CCFG, or likewise enabling the flash protection registers. It's recommended to do this via the ROM serial bootloader interface as there are primitives to write to the CCFG where the BDADDR can be stored.

Refer to the Bootloader & Device Configuration sections of the CC26x0 TRM SWCU117.

    Best wishes
