CC2564: Sleep mode in BT classic

Part Number: CC2564

Hi,

We are looking at using CC2564 in dual mode along with MSP432 for one of our projects and wanted to know the following

  • When in BT classic mode (not BLE), can we put CC2564 to sleep or low power mode to save power? We would like to periodically wakeup (using a timer), establish a connection and go back to sleep if no activity. If this can be done, what is power consumption in this mode?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

The CC256x devices have built in sleep mode that will cause the device to enter the low power state whenever possible. During this sleep mode, either over the air traffic or HCI UART communication will bring the device in active mode and it will go back to sleep mode again when possible. This sleep mode is automatically enabled in the CC256x service packs and the TI dual-mode Bluetooth stack.

For specific operation modes, you can find the current consumption in the device datasheet under the "Power Consumption Summary" section. For example, the deep sleep mode in the static current consumption table will be the base for the low power(aka deep sleep) mode.
The average power consumption during an actual use-case(dynamic current consumption) will depend on many factors including the periodic tasks (like page scan, inquiry scan or sniff operation) that run in the background.

    Best regards,
    Vihang
