BT-MSPAUDSOURCE: Adding a digital microphone to the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE eval board

Part Number: BT-MSPAUDSOURCE

Question related to the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE.  Can anyone tell me if it is possible to connect a digital microphone (sph0645lm4h) to the development board.  I see the TLV320ADC3101 supports digital mics.   This is my first time using any of the TI boards or tools and I am hoping to get a little information that would fast track this.

Thanks

Dave

  • Hi Dave,

The BT-MSPAUDSOURCE reference design is intended to showcase the music streaming over the classic Bluetooth using the A2DP profile. The default A3DPDemo on the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE board is set up to use the 3.5mm audio jack on the board as the audio source. You can connect an analog mic to this port and choose to stream that input to an A2DP sink.

If trying to connect a microphone directly to to the TLV320ADC3101 in any other way, you will be looking at making hardware and software changes on the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE board.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

  • Thanks for the reply. I assumed that it would take some modifications to the board and software. Due to my lack of experience with TI products. I was hoping to get some direction to some app notes or other reference designs that may help me attempt the modifications. I’m assuming the configuation changes would be on the TLV320. Any additional comments or suggestions. Thanks Dave

You are correct, the changes mainly would be on the TLV320 side. I recommend checking on the audio codec forum (link below) regarding relevant documentation and suggestions from the TLV320 product experts.
