CC2640R2F: XDS110 bus(debug probe) power,

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU110-U,

Dear TI support,

I am having the exact same issue as discussed in the following topic, unfortunately it is closed due to inactivity:

My current debugger set-up:

When measuring the output of the AUX, TGTSUPPLYOUT I measure apporximitely 0.014 V. I am still able to connect to the target somehow, but it immediately enters an exception state due to no target power.

Are there any settings I am missing to activate this functionality?

Best regards,

Mattia

  • Mattia,

The configuration seems ok. Therefore I ask: at what point during connection you see the low voltage on TGTSUPPLYVOUT?

The reason is that I see a normal voltage when powering my CC2640R2F launchpad using my TMDSEMU110-U and an external meter. (edit) The photograph below shows 3.3V, but I also tested with 3.6V and it worked fine.

During the "Test Connection" the external meter is only able to catch wildly varying voltages (I am using Min/Max mode) as the supply only happens during a very short period of time. (edit) using Peak Hold caught the upper voltage much more reliably.

Also, did you try other voltages or check if your board has any short circuits that may be overloading the XDS110?

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hi Rafael,

Thanks for your answer. I retried multiple times with my debugger, up until I got a prompt in the CCS console where it sais my XDS110 firmware was outdated. After updating the firmware I succesfully managed to power the node using the XDS110 and have not encountered any other problems.

So if anyone else is having this issue I would advise to try and update your XDS110 firmware and try again.

    Best regards,

    Mattia
  • Mattia,

Thank you for reporting back the outcome of your situation - this may help others in the future.

It is quite strange the console took so long to actually claim the firmware was outdated, therefore I will be monitoring the forums to see if this problem is reported by other folks.

    Thank you,
    Rafael
