CC2640R2F: Multiple Central Support

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541,

Customer is migrating from CC2541 to CC2640R2F or CC2642.  Customer needs to support a minimum of 4 Central devices in the system.

Questions:
How many Centrals can CC2640R2F support using internal memory?
How much work is it to port existing CC2541 application to CC264x?

We are aware of the porting guides and wiki, just trying to quantify based on past customer experience.

Thanks,
Mark

  • Hi Mark,

I don't understand what you mean by 4 central devices in the system. Does it mean that one peripheral is connected to 4 centrals?

We usually say that CC2640R2F can support 8 devices, but you may be able to support more or less depending on your available heap and your required level of security.

It's hard for me to estimate how much time they will need for porting. If their application is fairly similar to an example application I think they will be able to port it quite quickly.
  • Hi Maria,

Yes, the customer the customer device is a peripheral and needs to connect to a minimum of 4 centrals (ie tablet, phone, etc) with just works secure pairing. Can you provide an estimate of flash and RAM usage?

    Thanks,
    Mark
  • Hi Mark,

The only estimate I can provide you with is this one: github.com/.../multi_role.md

I think they will be able to run their application on CC2640R2F (unless they need a lot of peripherals in addition).
