CC2540: CC2540

Part Number: CC2540

(F.Y.I., None of your choices of forums really fits my topic.)

We have a CC2540 implementation whose USB connection is used only for charging the device’s internal battery, and for code updates. A separate processor communicates to/from the CC2540 via its UART, and the CC2540 then communicates to the outside world via Bluetooth. We need to minimize the CC2540’s power consumption while no USB connection exists. The data sheet (and all responses I’ve seen to user’s questions) do not address – during times with no USB connection - whether total CC2540 power consumption would be lower if its DVDD_USB pin is not powered then – versus always powering DVDD_USB.  (I.e., For lowest power, should we apply power to DVDD_USB and to the pullup on its D+ line only while a USB’s VBUS is present?) With this approach, would there be any added time delays after USB connection before it is usable?

Thanks!   Dick
