CC2650: CC2650 in built touch detection

Part Number: CC2650

Hello Ti Team,

I read in CC2650 datasheet. CC2650 supports in-built touch detection support.

So, if I connect touch sensor with CC2650 on analog pin, how can I detect touch? Is there any reference code or example code is available to take reference for development.

I know in SC studio there are touch example available for sensorTag. Is there apart from this?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hi Mahesh,

Could you please show me which datasheet that says the CC2650 has an in-built touch detection?
  • Hi Edvard,

Please find attached screenshot. I read the information of capacitive sensing from CC2650 datasheet page number-36 and in CC26xx TRM page number-25.

Sorry for my misunderstanding/typo but my question is CC2650 supports Capacitive sensing using sensor controller. Just we need to connect only capacitive pad only and CC2650 sense it.

I was asked, is there any example code available so that we can take reference from it and sense the Capacitive touch?

Please let me know if you have any difficulty to understand my question.

    Thanks

  • Mahesh,

The CC2650STK has capacitive touch capabilities, with existing examples showcasing this in Sensor Controller Studio.
You can take a look at the "Capacitive Touch Data Logger" example in Sensor Controller Studio, found under the Sensortag examples folder.
  • I know Esvard. The Capacitive Touch Data Logger example available in SC under sensorTag example, also i mentioned in my question.

Again my question is. I am not using the sensorTag hardware. I am working on CC2650 based custom designed hardware and connected Capacitive touch pad to analog pin. So, can I get the touch detection using this example or shall I need to develop the code own my self?

    Thanks

  • There already exist example code on Sensor Controller Studio. It should be applicable to your custom board.
