CCS/CC2640R2F: Custom card connecting to Android and not to iOS

If you try to use packet sniffer to check adverting of your custom board, can you see it doing advertising?

Do you have one to propose to me? a free one if it's possible ?

But I think Advertising is ok because I can connect the card sometimes.

Maybe it's the antenna wich create reflexion and it's explain why it's difficult to me to connect it.

i will try to snif it and I post the results here.

You can use CC2540 USB Dongle and TI Packet Sniffer as BLE sniffer.

I used an android application to sniff the advertising. Where my DevKit realizes 7 sends / second of advertise packet, my custom board only sends 0,2 / seconds and totally randomly.

I imagine that the problem can come from several causes:

I think about
a defective antenna or badly adapted (I test this Monday)
the programmer that I'm using isn't correct (CC dev debug) and not XDS110prob
etc ...

Do you use SmartRF Studio to do PER test to verify your RF performance?

I will try to test my RF results with Smart RF Studio. Is it possible to test only my custom board or do I need TI development boards?

I have trouble understanding the datasheet of Smart RF studio 7.

Which one do you use as TX? custom board or DevKit?

I use my custom board as TX.

So I suppose that the RF communication is ok ? and my antenna also ?

How far is it between your custom board and DevKit?

they are close, less than one meter

I'ts not a problem of power. The board connect with android application at 2-3m without problem.


The power is well expected, the concern is that the advertising packet is detected only very rarely and completely randomly.

The results are fine. Do you use BLE 5.0 LE coded phy in your application when you try to connect to your iOS or Android?

I work with the basic simple_peripheral project under the 1.50.00.58 SDK so the BLE protocol is the basic one used by the simple_peripheral project.

I've just modifie the project for my application. (Services / Caracteristics...).

Yes this application running on LAUNCHXL CC2640R2 recognised by both iOS and Android phone. And the advertising packets are sent correctly.

As Maxime say the application is exactly the same. There is just the "MYBOARD.c" "MYBOARD.h" and "Board.h" that are not the same.

I just realized that we put this quartz.

Do you think this is a problem according to its specifications (they are not exactly the same as the quartz offered by TI)
