CC2642R: Application migration from CC2640

Hi,

I am planning to port an application from the CC2640 to the CC2642. Are there any migration guides or wikis that could help me with this task?

What are the most significant changes in the BLE stacks of the two MCUs?

Hi Stefan,

You can find migration guides for CC26x2 here: dev.ti.com/.../migration-cc26x2.html

If you are moving from CC2640 to CC2642, you can reference the CC2640 to CC2640R2F migration guide and then also the CC2640R2F to CC26x2 Migration guide. There are also porting guides available for going between each SDK version.

Hi Katie,

thank you for the links. If i understood correctly the way to do this is porting from version 2.1.1->2.2.0->2.2.1->3.00.00->3.00.01->3.01.00->3.01.01->BLE5 1.02.00. Are there any "shortcuts" that i could take?

Hi Stefan,

I suspect you could make a more direct jump to the BLE5 version, but you'll want to be aware of the migration/porting guides for the versions in between as a reference to help you. You don't necessarily need to install and port for every minor version in between. Your main points of reference would be the CC2640 to CC2640R2F migration guide and the CC2640R2F to CC2642 migration guide. The others just may have additional details you could reference if you find yourself encountering a problem when you do the port.
