Hi,

For hardware, I am using a MSP-EXP432P401R dev board connected to a BOOSTXL-CC2650MA booster pack.

For software, I am using SimpleLink MSP432P4 SDK 2.10.00.14 along with SimpleLink SDK BLE plugin v:1.40.00.42 with these boards.

I would like to use Bluetooth Developer Studio to generate the BLE service files for my MSP432 application.

The BDS plugin that you have available in http://software-dl.ti.com/lprf/bds/ti-bds-plugin.html. This plugin generates code that runs in the CC2640/CC2650.

Is there a BDS plugin available that will generate code that will run on the MSP432?

Hi Jeffrey,

Most of the code that is generated by the BDS plugin to run on the CC2650 should work on the MSP432. I would recommend examining how profiles/services/characteristics work within the BLE Plugin examples provided and compare it with the output of the BDS plugin.

There is no BDS plugin support for MSP432, but the code is pretty similar and shouldn't be too difficult to see the similarities.

Hi Jeffrey,

For now, the closest thing we have is the Custom Profile lab in SimpleLink Academy. You can go to the bottom to service generator and it will generate services.

Is something planned? This seems like a big gap in TI's BLE toolchain, and will cause some developers a lot of extra work, especially compared to some other vendors that have tools.

As with many of our customers, the Bluetooth SIG did not announce this to any vendors and we were caught off guard by this. We are looking at some longer term solutions to assist with the stack/application development workflow but do not have any immediate replacement for BDS. For GATT development, leveraging the existing examples, the custom profile lab that I linked above and E2E would be the best course for short term support.

I would kindly ask that you provide feedback to the SIG about the abrupt nature of the tool removal – I’m sure the SIG would like to hear from its members.
