CCS/CC2650MODA: Unable to connect with cc2650moda when programing

Hi, this is Edward, I want to program cc2650moda by using TI LanuchPad. However, it said that the debugger(Code Composer Studio) cannot detect the cc2650moda (error 242). I have already tried to program BOOSTXL-CC2650MA and it did work. Also I have tied 3v3,gnd,TDO,TDI,TCK,TMS,RST to the cc2650moda. I think these pins are enough to program cc2650moda, I have no idea why it can't work, can anyone help, appreciated.

This is usually caused by bad JTAG connection so I suggest you to check connection first. By the way, do you power CC2650MODA?

Hi, thank for your reply. I am pretty sure that I connect the JTAG well, and powered cc2650MODA, and I have tried the second cc2650MODA already, so I still struggling at thinking why it can't be detected.

It's recommended that the JTAG connection between XDS110 and CC2650 should be as short as possible otherwise it might cause instability.

Thanks, and I also want to ask that as my understanding, I only need power and TMS, TCK then I can program cc2650moda right? Or TDI and TDO are still needed?
If it is right, what will be the pattern look like if I ultra connect an oscilloscope with TMS?

If you use cJtag, you need to connect GND, TMS, TCK , and RESET. If you need to use JTAG, you also have to add TDI and TDO.

You need to add a pull-up resistor on the reset signal. See this application note for details: www.ti.com/.../swra534

With the XDS110 (the debugger on the LaunchPad) the required signals are TCK, TMS and Reset.

Thanks for your reply. However, I have already connected a resistor in the system, it still doesn't work.....
Also, I want to check that what is the pattern(TMS) looks like if I connect an oscilloscope, so I can make sure my signal is correct that cc2650moda can recognize it.

I would start off by checking that the reset signal is properly pulled to VDD. You should also see the debugger reset the device when initiating a connection.
