Software crashes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

In going through the CC2540 User's Guide, I'm finding that the BTool software crashes upon every successful data connection.  I'm able to connect to the keyfob just fine, but when I read or write a characteristic value or something, it'll be successful but the software will immediately crash and Windows will prompt me to send an error report.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Is it something that can be fixed by changing the dongle-keyfob connection settings?  This same problem happens on two different computers (one has Windows XP, the other has Windows 7, both are 32-bit OS's).

Thanks for any help!

  • I'm not seeing any Btool crashes, but maybe there is something different in your steps.  If you follow the user guide examples, does it crash then?  What are the connection settings you are using?

    Thanks,

  • Greg,

Thanks for your reply.  I've followed the instructions very closely (set up dongle using correct COM port, make keyfob discoverable, search for keyfob, set connection settings, establish connection).  The serial port and connection settings I've been using are the default ones:

    --Serial Port settings--

Port: COM3 (determined from Device Manager)

    Baudrate: 57600

    Flow Control: CTS/RTS

    Parity: None

    Stop Bits: One

    Data Bits: 8

    --Connection settings--

    Min Connection Interval: 80

    Max Connection Interval: 80

    Slave Latency: 0

    Supervision Timeout: 2000

Would you recommend different settings?  Also, after encountering this problem the first time I decided to reinstall .NET Framework, but I haven't been able to successfully install it after uninstalling it.  I don't think this would affect my current data transfer problems as they existed even before I uninstalled the Framework, and since I'm still successfully connecting to the keyfob, the BTool software probably isn't drawing on libraries from .NET Framework.

    Thanks for any help!
