CC2540: Btool, Ztool

Hi Nedim,

To be clear, are you hosting windows inside of a virtual machine or are you saying that you're running the virtual machine along side BTool in Windows?

What version of the BLE Stack are you using?

If you use CC2540EMK with SmartRF05 and would like to connect it to BTool, do you use RS-232 cable to connect RS-232 socket on SmartRF05 to your deskptop? Maybe you can attach a picture to show me your connection first.

I have win10 on my computer. I tried to use win7 through VirtualMachine but something went wrong I will try it again today.
And I was using BLE-STACK-2-2-2: so It has inside Btool 1.41.11. I will install Ble Stack 1.4.2.2. Do you have any suggesstions for me?

I was using usb cable to feed the development kit. I tried just with usb and also with Rs-232. But the  point is I have the same problem with cc2538dk on Z-Tool. I have also attached a photo on other post for Z-Tool. Here is the photo for cc2540em.

I see you use USB-to-serial converter connecting between smartrf05 and your PC so I suppose you should select virtual COM port simuated by USB-to-serial converter instead of COM1 in your BTool to make this work. By the way, do you download HostTest into your CC2540EMK+SmartRF05 before you connect it with BTool?

As I know I have inside of my CC2540 default hex. But I dont know how to chect it because cc2540 doesnt work with IAR 8051.

Firstly, Do I have to use Rs-232? Secondly I have attached a screenshot from device manager, Btool and the error which I got right now? There are a lot of options to select the driver. I am confused for the right one.

Yes, you have to use another COM port instead of COM1(in your screenshot) which is simulated by SmartRF05.

Do you have cc2540Em hex file for HostTest? I downloaded BLE-CC254x-1.4.2.2 but in C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.2.2\Projects\ble\HostTest\CC2541\CC2540\hex this folder there is no hex file!

You can find CC2540_SmartRF_HostTestRelease_All.hex in C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.2.2\Accessories\HexFiles

And in addtion to above can I use flash Programmer 2 to flash cc2540em ? or which programmes can I use to flash cc2540em?

You should use Flash Programmer instead of Flash Programmer 2.

To clarify to YiKai's comment, Flash Programmer 2 does not support CC2540, hence his suggestion to use Flash Programmer.

I flashed my cc2540EMs with HostTest. Thank you. Now I will try to use Btool again. I will ask a fes more questions if it doesnt work again.

I am using BTool version 1.40.5(which comes with(BLE-STACK-CC25X:BLE-STACK V1.4.0 (Support for CC2540/CC2541)).

I deleted all the versions before I install this version. And now It works sometimes. But I don't understand why It works sometimes and I sometimes have an error(gap device initialization timeout).

Another point is I need to pair the devices(cc2540em) but as I understood I have to use HostTest.hex to use BTool, so is it possible to pair them with BTool when I use HostTest.hex in both devices?

or Is there another way to do that?
