BOOSTXL-AOA: what will this look like when commercialized?

Part Number: BOOSTXL-AOA

Hi guys,

I have a customer very interested in our CC2640r2f and AoA is part of the reason why. They will order the AoA boosterpack, but obviously most commercialized products cannot be enormous like this.

Do you guys have any documentation or guidance about how to design a custom board for AoA? Did you guys have problems with a smaller solution and that is why the eval board is so large? My customer is a bit nervous about the size of that board being foreshadowing to troubles they could have if trying to squeeze down to a beacon/tag size.

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Bryan,

We are working on a smaller board (credit card size) that will be released as a reference design once it's ready.

The BOOSTXL-AoA board have six antennas while the minimum required number of antennas is two. When designing your own board we recommend that you take the antenna design from our boosterpack (two or more of the antennas) and use that on your custom board.

    Regards,
    Reidar
