Linux/CC2564: Availability of open source drivers

Part Number: CC2564
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2560

Tool/software: Linux

Hello TI,

I am designing a PCB to implement Bluetooth with a non-TI ARM-based processor (Xilinx Zynq SoC) with Linux OS.  The design requires "Classic" Bluetooth (BR/EDR).  There is no need for Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE).  Therefore, CC2560 initially seemed to be the best option.  However, I am concerned that the CC2560 will be phased out soon by the CC2564C, and the CC2560 will be difficult to acquire in a couple of years.  Is this a valid concern?  I know that the pinout/package/functionality is the same, but are the CC2560 and CC2564C compatible from the host processor's point of view?  Are they both compatible with the gerenic hci_tty Linux driver?

Thank you for any help on the viability of CC2560 in our new design and any information to help me better understand the host software drivers required.

  • As, such you should be able to use controller with any host.. But, if you decide to use TI Bluetopia stack, then those libraries are built only for ARM cores on Linux. However, if you use other Bluetooth stacks like Bluez, just specify the Bt controller make i.e texas..

    Thanks
