Linux/CC2640: Interface CC2640 with External MCU in Linux platform

Hello all,

I am a newbie to ti devices. I want to use CC2640 interfacing with External MCU from Phytec. Is it possible to interface these two over UART?

I made some debugging and understood that, we can use CC2640 in network processor configuration and Bluetooth application can be run in external MCU. Is this process also supports in Linux.

I want to send commands from External MCU to CC2640 over UART and want to activate the events like device discovery and paring with other devices.

Please let me know if this can be possible in Linux environment.

I read the following content from Host Test(http://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/simplelink_cc2640r2_sdk_1_40_00_45/examples/rtos/CC2640R2_LAUNCHXL/ble5stack/host_test/README.html

Note: It is not possible to use an external Bluetooth Host stack, such as BlueZ, with Host Test since the network processor implements the Host component. External applications must use the TI Vendor Specific HCI commands for implementing GAP, GATT, Pairing/Bonding, etc., functionality.

Please help me in How can i use the BLE stack in linux environment.

For using HostTest with UART interface, you only need to use HCI command and I would suggest you to check how BTool works with HostTest. However, BTool only works on Windows desktop so I suppose you need to find a Windows PC to test it first.

HI,
With BTool, i am able to send and receive data. But, my concern is to use this chip in Linux environment instead of in windows system.
Are there any linux drivers for CC2640, so that i can directly use this chip to connect with my MCU application or Linux PC.

It’s UART interface for communication so you can still use the same HCI commands in BTool on Linux.

Its working now. I missed the initial configuration. I made it proper now and it is working fine :)
