CC2564C: A2DP and AVRCP Certification Question

Hi,

My customer has the following question:

For the host side: Host Subsystem (based on Bluetopia): launchstudio.bluetooth.com/.../8668
- We noticed that in the 'Supported Layers' dropdown there is no mention of A2DP / AVRCP, just the lower level profiles (like GATT and GAP for example).
- Can you clarify if the A2DP / AVRCP profiles need to be listed in the 'Supported Layers' section for this QDID to be used for our A2DP/AVRCP certification?

Chuchen,

The QDID 85355 is for the Host Subsystem (does not include the profiles) for the dual mode Bluetooth 4.2 host stack for CC2564C and WL18xx devices. You can find the profile information (including ICS details) in the profile subsystem (QDID :069886).

Hi Vihang,

So to clarify, the A2DP/AVRCP profiles do not need to be listed in the "Supported Layers" section for this QDID correct?

Correct. The one for A2DP and AVRCP can be found here, separate from the rest of the QDIDs

Hi All,

There is still some confusion on this issue and the customer would like to verify:

It seems to us that the Controller and Host Subsystem (not including profiles) are qualified for Bluetooth 4.2, but the Profile Stack is only qualified for Bluetooth 4.0.

Does this mean that the Profile Stack isn't qualified?

BT Core 4.2 Dual Mode BT & LE Controller (QDID 87924)

BT 4.2 Dual Mode Host Subsystem (QDID 85355)

Dual Mode Bluetooth 4.0 Profile Stack (QDID 69886)

The profile stack is qualified. The recent deprecation/withdrawal news only pertains to the *core* spec, which does not include the profile subsystem.

Thanks Mason, but that wasn't our question.

We understand the recent deprecation of the core stack, but we want to verify that the "Dual Mode Bluetooth 4.0 Profile Stack (QDID 69886)" which we downloaded from the TI CC2564C product page is qualified with this BT 4.2 Core Chip.

Please note that our confusion is related to the fact that one QDID specifies BT 4.0 and the other specifies BT 4.2. Is this a problem?

Hi Joshua,

It is still qualified with the BT 4.2 Core Chip. While the QDID for the profile subsystem is 4.0, using it with our device is still qualified and will work with the BT Sig today.

Hi Mason,

You mentioned it will still be qualified today, but what about after January 2019 when Bluetooth Sig officially deprecates these profiles?

If we get our product qualified this year will will be ok after January 2019? And, what if we try to get our product qualified after January 2019?

This is an urgent matter, thank you again for your help.

As I said in a previous comment, the deprecation only affects the core spec. The profiles are not part of the core spec and have their own separate deprecation/withdrawal plans that are beyond Jan 2019.
