Can RSSI function in C2541 be used to measure the distance between a master and a slave?

Hi,

RSSI measures the received signal strength of an incoming RF packet. This can to some extent be used to estimate the distance between two RF nodes, but it comes with a lot of limitations. For example can the levels be highly affect by multipath effects.

To be frank, I want to use this function to measure the distance between two or some running cars and let them know their relative location. Will the precision be 20cm or 30cm? Thanks.

It is not really possible to put a precision number on RSSI, it change greatly based on environment.
