LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: Differences in antenna matching networks between CC2650STK and LAUNCHXL-CC26x2R1

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

Team,

I have a customer designing with CC265x, and we are curious to the slight differences to the inverted F antennae on the boards in the subject:

Can you comment on whether or not C31 should be present in the network, and the need/advantages of C14/C12 vs. the 0 ohm, resistor for selection/matching?

  • Hi Carolus,

The delta between the two antenna (matching) designs is the size of the GND plane. Even though the antenna structure is the same, the GND plane is different in size. A monopole antenna is dependent on the GND plane size since this is effectively the second radiating element of an dipole antenna.

C14 is used as a "switch" between the uSMA and the antenna. This can be removed in the above schematic or use a 0 ohm resistor.

    Regards,

       Richard
