CC2564C: What is the difference between assisted A2DP and unassisted A2DP?

Can someone point me in the direction of clarifying the difference between assisted A2DP and unassisted A2DP?

    In unassisted modes, host needs to handle the encoding and decoding of the SBC or any other codec used with A2DP,HFP etc. On the other hand, with assisted modes, the co-processor on CC2564C performs the encode/decode and the PCM can be streamed directly from the PCM port of the device to the external audio codec, without the need of the Host..
