Hello,

I have my custom designed board, and I am trying to implement a application where, the device keeps on beaconing and only on a button press it will connect to the central.

I cant use the PLUS_BROADCASTER feature because it doesnt solve my purpose on the same. Any advice on this is welcome.

Hello Harsha,
Please review the Bluetooth Low Energy Scanning and Advertising lab in simplelink academy. It will show you how to control multiple advertisement sets. Then you can create one set of type ADV_NONCONN_IND and enable another set of type ADV_IND after a button push.

So after a button press i can make a function that initializes to ADV_IND?

Yes.
Post an custom event in the pin callback function then enable the advertising in the ICall enabled task in for example SimplePeripheral_processAppMsg for simple peripheral. You can refer to project zero for example on how to ad debounce logic to your button implementation.

In the BLE5 stack you can define several advertising sets. In the BLE4.2 stack you might have to stop the advertisement, change adv. type and restart.

Hey erik,

I want to change the mode of advertisement, instead of changing the advert data. To do this I m doing the following:

bStatus_t status = 0;

uint8_t advertEnabled = FALSE; // Turn off Advertising

// Disable connectable advertising.
status = GAPRole_SetParameter(GAPROLE_ADVERT_DATA, sizeof(uint8_t),
&advertEnabled);
until here the code executes fine and also it stops the advertising, but doesn't go to the next part of the code. And also this is dne during the run time.

Hello Harsha,

In the below it should be GAPROLE_ADV_NONCONN_ENABLED or GAPROLE_ADVERT_ENABLED.

status = GAPRole_SetParameter(GAPROLE_ADVERT_DATA, sizeof(uint8_t),&advertEnabled);

If you code is stuck you should debug step by step to identify where the code gets stuck.Please refer to the debug chapter in the User's Guide:
