CC2564MODN: Query chip version CC2564 vs CC2564B

Prior to loading the correct firmware service pack (CC2564 or CC2564B) to these chips, can the HCI_VS_Get_System_Status(0xFE1F) command be used?

This would allow software to determine the chip silicon and which service pack to use?

Is this how Linux drivers are written to support the various CC2564 ?

Or is there some other way to determine silicon version?

I'm not sure if that's how the Linux driver are written.

However this is the only way to determine the silicon version.

Can you clarify this "only " way to determine silicon version?

Is it:
1) Query HCI_VS_Get_System_Status before loading patch code?
2) Query HCI_VS_Get_System_Status after loading patch code? (not sure which patch to load in this case)

Hi Mike,

Both will give you the exact same information.

One of the returned parameters is the SW Version ("MAJOR") according to that you can know which IC

6 - for CC2564

7 - for CC2564B

then you can download the relevant initscript.

OK thanks. So for #2 option - loading the wrong patch code, e.g. CC256XB patch onto

a CC2564 chip will not do any harm? I can reset and load the correct CC256X patch once I read the SW Major Version?

Hi,

It won't do any harm.
However it will cause the chip not to operate - as wrong patches will be downloaded to wrong addresses.

You can reset it and load the correct patch.
