CC2652RB: SDKv3.10: Simple Central Gatt Read?

Hi,

I am trying out the Simple Central Gatt Read and it always returns Simple Profile Characteristics 1 value. If I make a custom BLE Service with 1 Characteristics 4 bytes will the Simple Central Gatt Read return the 4 bytes? I am thinking the Simple Central only works specifically with Simple Profile.

Hi Markel,
Simple Central application was designed to evaluate simple peripheral and it's simple service. That being said, you should be able to create your own services and utilize them. Have you seen this SLA: dev.ti.com/.../ble_01_custom_profile.html

Thanks. I know how to make custom BLE Service. I think it would be nice if Simple Central is able to read the rest of Simple Profile Characteristics. I try to modify Simple Central to read Simple Profile Characteristics 2 and I get Gatt Read Error.

Hi,

Yes, whichever characteristic you read, it will return that. So 1 byte, 4 bytes, etc.

Possibly this thread can help in discovering more characteristics: e2e.ti.com/.../777504
Also, there is an example on our github that is better at discovering remote services as central: github.com/.../simple_serial_socket_client

I am trying to modify the SimpleCentral_doGattRead() to read Simple Profile Characteristics 2 but, have not been successful. Anyway I will try to do that again some other time.

Thanks for your links, I will look into it and see if it will be able to solve my problem. Anyway, my objective for now is to read 4 bytes from a custom BLE Service with 1 characteristic.
